Bible Doctrines: Subjects & Texts #2
Does The Bible Teach That Jesus Will Return To This Earth's Surface?
This is a one page summary of Return to Earth proving Biblically that Jesus would never set foot on this earth again after His public ascension….
Zechariah 14:3,4 - "…and His [Jesus'] feet shall stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east…."
Fact: This was written over 500 years before Jesus actually did stand on the Mount of Olives, fulfilling the promise c.30 AD, not at
some still future date!
Acts 1:9,10,11 - "And…while they beheld, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight…. This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye see Him go into heaven."
Note: Jesus will fulfill this promise and "come [back] in like manner."
I Thessalonians 4:16,17 - "…the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them [the dead in Christ] IN THE CLOUDS, to meet the Lord IN THE AIR, and so [thence forward] shall we ever be with the Lord."
Clearly, here Jesus returns exactly as promised, i.e., IN THE CLOUDS. Just as clearly, in this Return, He never sets foot on this old
Matthew 24:30 - "…and they shall see the Son of Man coming IN THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN with power and great glory."
As with Matt. 26:24; Rev. 1:7, etc., this Scriptural account of the Return of Jesus IS IN THE CLOUDS. The assumption that Jesus comes to the ground is theory denied by Scripture. There is no Scripture showing Jesus on this earth in the future.
Revelation 20:2,3,4,5,6,7 - Each verse mentions "a thousand years" time frame when Satan is bound and released, when the martyr roster is full in heaven and all martyrs (in heaven) are resurrected and live and reign with Christ "a thousand years".
It is remarkable that God's warning through Peter about taking "a thousand years" literally is ignored by eschatologists focused on fulfilling their Great Parenthesis Theory" of a future return of Jesus to reign in Jerusalem for a thousand years. Note:
II Peter 3:8 -"But beloved, BE NOT IGNORANT OF THIS ONE THING, that one day is with the Lord as "a thousand years", and "a thousand years" as one day."
This warning has only one meaning, viz.: Do not take "a thousand years" literally when you come to those verses in Rev. 20. If you do take those verses literally you will do an ignorant thing that will enable false "end time" doctrines to root & grow.
Revelation 11:8 - "And their dead bodies shall be in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."
Here, the Bible calls Jerusalem "Sodom and Egypt" and the headquarters of Satan's Global Government as the final time frames are fulfilled (Rev. 13:5; 20:3).
So--as seen in Doctrines--the Bible repeatedly teaches that this earth is destroyed and vanishes and is replaced by an eternal New Earth. Now we know that Jesus returns in the clouds only, and never sets foot on this temporary earth. This means that all teachings based on Jesus ruling on this earth are false. Jesus returns in the clouds only on the last day of this earth's history to rapture Christians (I Thess. 4:13-18) and the rest of the dead (John 5:28,29).
